Alastor, I got when I was in 6th grade, and we almost sold him many times because he was just so hard, but he has taught me more about myself than any horse ever could. He taught me that really horses don’t care for shows and eventing and that if he didn’t wanna do something, I had to listen. He’s the reason I took a whole new path in my horse journey of training untouched mustangs, which is where Story comes into play. I got Story last year for the 2024 Mustang Makeover, and he was and is one of the most playful and willing horses I’ve ever worked with, so much so I ended up buying him back from the show. But he’s like Alastor—you can’t just do what you want; he has to want to do it too. Mustangs teach so much because they aren’t just bred to do anything for anyone, but when you reach the point where a mustang trusts you, it’s a magical feeling.”
